Ilkeston Express (defunct)

The Ilkeston Express was a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper for the town of Ilkeston and surrounding villages in the Borough of Erewash and the neighbouring Borough of Amber Valley.

It was founded in 1989 when the Derby Express founded three years earlier split into five editions. It was published by the Derby Telegraph Media Group, which at the time was part of the Northcliffe Media regional newspaper division of the Daily Mail & General Trust. The same publishers also produce the Derby Telegraph; the Express series was based in the same editorial offices in Derby. It had no website of its own; the link below is to Northcliffe’s thisisderbyshire.co.uk website.

It came out on Thursdays. It ceased publication in 2011 when it was merged with the Ripley & Heanor Express to form the Ilkeston, Ripley & Heanor Express.
