The Ellesmere Port Standard

The Ellesmere Port Standard – formerly, the Ellesmere Port & Neston Standard – is a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper distributed to homes in the town of Ellesmere Port on the left bank of the River Mersey, Neston on the right bank of the River Dee, and nearby villages across the base of the Wirral Peninsula in the unitary authority of Cheshire West and Chester.

It’s one of a group of three Standard freesheets for western Cheshire and Flintshire together with the Chester & District Standard and the Flintshire Standard. As of September 2012 the group claimed to have the biggest free circulation in Ellesmere Port, Chester and Flintshire.

It’s published by NWN Media (formerly North Wales Newspapers Ltd), an independent newspaper publishing company based in Mold in Flintshire that celebrated its bicentenary in 2009. The editorial offices are in Chester and collocated with the Chester edition of the Leader and the Chester Standard.

It comes out on Thursdays. A free e-edition’s also available on the website.
