All about the United Kingdom’s national, regional and local press

Saddleworth Extra

The Saddleworth Extra is a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper delivered to homes in the eastern part of the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham and the north-eastern corner of the neighbouring Metropolitan Borough of Tameside in Greater Manchester, including the towns and villages of Denshaw, Delph, Diggle, Dobcross, Greenfield, Mossley, Springhead and Uppermill. (Saddleworth was part of the West Riding of Yorkshire until its absorption into Greater Manchester in 1974.)

It was launched in March 2010 as a companion to independent publishers Hirst, Kidd & Rennie Ltd‘s paid tabloid title, the Oldham Evening Chronicle, with which it shares editorial offices in Oldham. Initially it also shared the Chronicle‘s website, but it now has its own.

It comes out on Thursdays. An e-edition’s also available free via the Chronicle‘s website.
