Donside Piper

The Donside Piper (in full, the Donside Piper and Herald) is a weekly tabloid newspaper sold in central Aberdeenshire around the towns of Alford and Huntly and across to Strathdon.

It was launched in February 1989 as the Donside and Insch edition of The Piper, a newspaper established four years earlier as The Deeside Piper. After just five issues it adopted its present title, and the Deeside edition became the Deeside Piper and Herald. A third edition in the series, The Westhill Piper, was published from 1991 to 1994 before being absorbed into the Donside Piper.

The Piper series (which also included the Inverurie Herald until a recent reorganisation) is owned by Angus County Press, part of the Johnston Press UK-wide group of regional newspapers. It’s produced from editorial offices in Banchory.

It comes out on Thursdays.
