Bucks Free Press
It was founded in 1856 as The South Bucks Free Press, Wycombe and Maidenhead Journal, and adopted its current shorter title in 1917. It’s published by Newsquest (London) as part of their Bucks Free Press & Times group, which is based in High Wycombe.
The main edition covers Bucks County (High Wycombe, Beaconsfield, Princes Risborough); a sub-edition, the Marlow Free Press, covers Marlow. A third, covering Amersham, Chesham and the Chalfonts, appears to have ceased publication in 2010.
2,000 copies are available via free pickup at supermarkets. There’s also a freesheet companion, the South Bucks Star. A paid-for midweek companion for High Wycombe, the appropriately named Bucks Free Press Midweek, closed in April 2011.
It comes out on Fridays. Archived e-editions going back to 2007 are also available by paid subscription.
