Wandsworth Guardian

The Wandsworth Guardian (“Incorporating Wandsworth Borough News“, as it says in its masthead – the News was absorbed into it in December 2008) is a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper for the London Borough of Wandsworth and parts of Lambeth and Croydon.

It was founded in 1982 as the Putney & Wandsworth Guardian. It then became the Wandsworth Borough Guardian in 1983 and the Wandsworth & Putney Guardian in 1984, before settling on its present title in 1995.

It’s published by Newsquest South & West London in two editions: one for Wandsworth Town and Putney, and one for Balham, Battersea, Clapham and Tooting. A third, for Streatham, West Norwood and Crystal Palace, published as the Streatham Guardian, has been online-only since November 2012.

The editorial offices are in Sutton.

It comes out on Thursdays. The two print editions are also available as free e-editions; the requirement to register was dropped for a while, but has now been reinstated. A very small number of copies are also available through pickup points.
