Strathaven Extra (defunct)

The Strathaven Extra was a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper for the town of Strathaven in South Lanarkshire and its surrounding villages, including Chapelton and Glassford.

It was a local sub-edition of the South Lanarkshire Extra, which was launched in 2003 as a replacement for the South Lanarkshire edition of the earlier Hamilton People. It was published by Johnston Press‘s Johnston (Falkirk) subsidiary, who took both titles over (along with the North Lanarkshire Extra) from Archant Regional in early 2007. The editorial offices were in Motherwell.

It had no website of its own; the link given below is to Johnston’s paid-for weekly tabloid for Lanarkshire, the Lanark Gazette.

It came out on Thursdays.

The South Lanarkshire Extra series ceased publication in 2011.
