Worcester Observer
It was launched in 2000 as the Worcester Standard, but was rebranded in October 2013 under the current title and given a local companion title, the Malvern Observer (“including the Ledbury Observer“). The publication day changed from Friday to Wednesday at the same time.
It’s part of the Redditch-based Bullivant Media group of freesheets, founded by Chris and Pat Bullivant in 1989 as Observer Standard Newspapers. OSN went into official administration in March 2009 while a buyer or buyers were sought for the group’s titles; the Bullivants relaunched their business and succeeded in rescuing most of their titles from closure.
The editorial offices are in Redditch. An earlier office in Worcester itself appears to have closed.
An e-edition’s available free on the website.
