All about the United Kingdom’s national, regional and local press

Shirley Observer

The Shirley Observer is a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper for the town of Shirley in the south-west of the Metropolitan Borough of Solihull in the West Midlands, to the south-east of Birmingham.

It’s a local sub-edition of the Solihull Observer covering Solihull’s southwestern suburbs, and shares the same website.

It’s published by Redditch-based Bullivant Media. Bullivant Media is the successor company to Chris and Pat Bullivant’s original venture, Observer Standard Newspapers, which published 18 free titles, mostly in the West Midlands region. On 10 March 2009 Observer Standard Newspapers went into official administration while a buyer or buyers were sought for the group’s titles; Bullivant Media managed to rescue most of them.

The editorial offices were in Solihull but have now moved to Leamington Spa.

It comes out on Thursdays. An e-edition (of the Solihull Observer) is also available online.
