Ipswich Advertiser (defunct)
It was founded in 1987 as the Citizen. After six months from August 1988 as the Ipswich Yellow Advertiser, it settled on Ipswich Advertiser as a title at the end of February 1989. It switched in September that year to the Ipswich, Felixstowe, Stowmarket Advertiser, but reverted to Ipswich Advertiser in September 1992.
It was published by Archant Suffolk, one of the five divisions of Archant Regional, the local newspaper publishing arm of the Archant media group. The editorial offices were in Ipswich.
It was part of a five-title Suffolk & Ipswich Advertiser group of weekly freesheets, together with the Coastal Advertiser, the Felixstowe Advertiser, the Hadleigh Advertiser and the Stowmarket Advertiser. Their combined circulation area was substantially the same as Archant Suffolk’s Ipswich-based evening paper, the Evening Star.
It came out on Thursdays. A free e-edition was also available on the website (which has now been withdrawn).
It was superseded in October 2009 by the Star Advertiser.
