Chelmsford & Mid Essex Yellow Advertiser
It’s part of a group of several Yellow Advertiser newspapers covering West, Mid and South Essex and eastern and north-eastern Greater London. The group’s editorial offices are in Basildon.
The group was founded in 1976. A Chelmsford/Brentwood edition started slightly later, in 1978, followed by a Chelmsford/Maldon edition in 1983 after Brentwood got its own edition. Thereafter the group’s coverage of Chelmsford alternated between an edition shared with Maldon (1983-1988, 1995-2001, 2006-2008) and one for the city (1988-1995, 2001-2006). The Chelmsford edition became the Chelmsford & Mid Essex Yellow Advertiser in 2008. According to the front page’s footer, it also covers South Woodham Ferrers, Maldon, Witham, Great Baddow and Braintree.
Tindle Newspapers bought the Yellow Advertiser group from Trinity Mirror in 2007.
Despite the name, the series is printed on ordinary white newsprint, although the word “Yellow” in the masthead is that colour.
It comes out on Thursdays. A free e-edition is also available via the website.
