Sudbury Mercury

The Sudbury Mercury (known as the East Anglian Daily Times Mercury – Sudbury from January 2010 to April 2011, but usually abbreviated even then, including on its own website) is a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper distributed to households in the Suffolk town of Sudbury and surrounding villages in the western part of the district of Babergh and the southern part of the Borough of St Edmundsbury, including Great Cornard, Long Melford and Glemsford.

It was launched in 1986. It’s one of two titles in the Ipswich-based Mercury series published as a companion to the East Anglian Daily Times by the Archant Suffolk branch of the Archant media group’s Archant Anglia division. (The other title is the Bury St Edmunds Mercury.)

The main editorial offices are in Ipswich, but there’s also an office in Sudbury.

About a third of the print run is distributed through pickup points in retail and community locations and by brand-to-hand in Sudbury town centre on the day it’s published, which is Thursday and also happens to be market day in Sudbury. A free e-edition’s also available via the website.
