The Independent on Sunday
The name Independent on Sunday was chosen to avoid confusion with the Plymouth-based Sunday Independent (and possibly the Sunday edition of the Irish Independent).
It was briefly edited by ex-1980s “yoof” TV presenter Janet Street-Porter between 1999 and 2002.
In March 2010 it was sold by Independent News & Media to Independent Print Ltd, a company owned by Russian businessman and former KGB officer Aleksandr Lebedev (who bought the London Evening Standard in January 2009).
It shares a website with the daily version. Both newspapers underwent a major facelift in October 2011, the fourth redesign in three years.
The editorial offices are at 2 Derry Street in Knightsbridge, which some may recognise as Northcliffe House – headquarters of the Daily Mail & General Trust.
An e-edition’s available, as are app versions for iPad/iPhone, Android, BlackBerry, Kindle Fire and e-readers.
