Surrey Times

The Surrey Times is a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper distributed to households in Guildford and various other towns and villages in western Surrey, including Godalming nearby and Cranleigh rather further away.

It’s published by Surrey & Berkshire Media, part of Trinity Mirror since they purchased it from the Guardian Media Group in March 2010. It’s a companion newspaper to the broadsheet Surrey Advertiser series and shares offices (in Guildford) with it and S&B Media’s other Surrey titles.

It was created in 2007 by the merger of three freesheets founded in the 1970s: the Guildford Times (originally the Surrey Times News Shopper & Villager) , the Godalming Times and the Cranleigh Times. However, it wasn’t the first newspaper to bear the name; the West Surrey Times was established in 1855 and became the Surrey Times & County Express 1893, before being renamed the Guildford & Godalming Times in 1960 and then merging with the Advertiser in 1968.

It comes out on Wednesdays. It has no website of its own; its web presence is through S&B Media’s getsurrey.co.uk website.
