All about the United Kingdom’s national, regional and local press

Denbighshire Free Press

The Denbighshire Free Press (simply “The Free Press” in its masthead) is a weekly tabloid newspaper sold especially in the towns and rural areas of Denbigh, Ruthin and St Asaph in the Vale of Clwyd in North Wales.

It was founded in 1881. It’s published by the independent family-owned company NWN Media (formerly North Wales Newspapers), which has been publishing newspapers for more than 200 years. The editorial offices are in Rhyl.

It’s one of a series of two Free Press newspapers, the other being the Corwen, Bala & Llangollen Free Press, a local edition covering the upper Dee Valley.

Between 2008 and 2009 the same editorial team also produced the short-lived Ruthin & Denbigh Evening Leader paid-for tabloid, a local edition of the Leader series.

It comes out on Thursdays. An e-edition’s also available by paid subscription.
