Northampton Herald & Post (defunct)

The Northampton Herald & Post was a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper distributed to homes in the town and Borough of Northampton and villages in the surrounding area, including Long Buckby, Brixworth and Moulton. Its distribution area expanded in the early 2010s to take in Brackley and Towcester to the south-west, which formerly had their own newspapers, the Brackley Post and the Towcester Post.

It was one of a series of Herald & Post newspapers in Northamptonshire founded in 1975, formerly published by Trinity Mirror but acquired by LSN Media Ltd in 2008. LSN Media (the LSN originally stood for Local Sunday Newspapers) publish 13 newspapers across three counties, most of them in Northamptonshire and Bedfordshire. Iliffe News & Media bought LSN in August 2005, and in turn became part of the Local World media group on its creation at the end of 2012.

The editorial offices were in Northampton but moved from the town centre (where they’d been for 25 years) to a new “media hub” on the eastern outskirts in March 2012.

It came out on Thursdays. An e-edition was also available through the website.

It merged with the only other remaining Herald & Post title, the Wellingborough & Rushden Herald & Post, in January 2013 to form the Northants Herald & Post.
