Hamilton World (defunct)

The Hamilton World was a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper distributed to homes in and around the town of Hamilton in South Lanarkshire, including the smaller neighbouring town of Blantyre.

It was established in 1981. It was published by Scottish & Universal Newspapers, a division of UK-wide newspaper publishers Trinity Mirror, as a companion to their paid-for title for the area, the Hamilton Advertiser, and as part of a Lanarkshire World series for the council area. It shared editorial offices in Hamilton with the Advertiser.

It had no website of its own; the link below is to the Advertiser‘s website.

It came out on Fridays.

In August 2011 Scottish & Universal Newspapers announced that it was suspending publication of all its freesheet newspapers with effect from the week ending 9 September 2011.
