North & East Manchester Advertiser (defunct)
It was founded in 2002 as the Moston, Middleton & Blackley Express, covering northern Manchester, but subsequently expanded to take in eastern Manchester too. It was published by Greater Manchester Weekly Newspapers, part of MEN Media, which also publishes the Manchester Evening News. MEN Media is itself part of Trinity Mirror; they bought it from the Guardian Media Group in March 2010.
Until May 2009 it shared editorial offices in Ashton-under-Lyne with the Tameside Advertiser and the Glossop Advertiser. All titles moved to central Manchester in May 2009 when MEN Media centralised its operations; then again to Chadderton on the outskirts of Oldham in September 2010 following the Trinity Mirror takeover.
It was a freesheet up until August 2011, when it was relaunched as a “bigger, better” paid-for title with more local news content. However, it ceased publication some time in the second half of 2012. (A community monthly newspaper produced by the youth academy of Hyde FC, the North East Manchester Advertiser, is unrelated.)
It came out on Fridays.
