Dewsbury Reporter
It was founded in 1858. It was still known as the Dewsbury Reporter and Heckmondwicke Reporter as recently as 1982, but assumed its present title in that year and has kept it since then, apart from a three-year spell from 1997 to 2000 when it was simply The Reporter.
It’s published by The Reporter Ltd, which is based in Wakefield and is a subsidiary of nationwide regional newspaper publishers Johnston Press. The editorial offices were in Dewsbury until 2013, but have now been centralised in Leeds along with most of JP’s other newspapers for West Yorkshire.
There’s also a local sub-edition for the town of Mirfield, the Mirfield Reporter, which shares the same editorial offices but has its own website. A companion freesheet, the Reporter Extra, is published on Thursdays.
It comes out on Fridays.
