Trafford Metro (defunct)

The Trafford Metro (the Manchester Metro News Trafford until 2008) was a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper delivered free to homes in the Metropolitan Borough of Trafford to the south-west of Manchester, in a circulation area which took in the towns of Stretford and Urmston (both formerly in Lancashire) as well as Sale, Altrincham, Timperley, Bowdon, Partington and Hale (all formerly in Cheshire).

It was launched in 1992 and was published by MEN Media, formerly part of the Guardian Media Group but now owned by Trinity Mirror following its sale in March 2010. The editorial offices used to be in Didsbury, but moved to the Manchester Evening News offices in central Manchester in May 2009 along with all the rest of MEN Media’s weekly titles – and then again to the outskirts of Oldham in September 2010.

It came out on Fridays.

In October 2010 it was replaced by two titles, the Sale & Altrincham Advertiser and the Stretford & Urmston Advertiser.
