East Kilbride News

The East Kilbride News is a weekly tabloid newspaper sold in and around the New Town of East Kilbride in South Lanarkshire, in a distribution area that stretches as far as the town of Strathaven.

It was founded in 1952. In 1967 it incorporated a local newspaper for Cambuslang, the Cambuslang Advertiser, founded in 1898.

It’s published by Media Scotland (formerly Scottish & Universal Newspapers until their amalgamation with the Daily Record and Sunday Mail in December 2011), part of the UK-wide Trinity Mirror group. The editorial offices used to be in East Kilbride but shifted to Hamilton in early 2010 – where they still remain, despite the centralisation of most of Media Scotland’s editorial operations in Glasgow in early 2012.

Publication of a companion freesheet, the East Kilbride World, was suspended in September 2011.

It used to have its own website at eastkilbridenews.co.uk, but that URL now redirects to the East Kilbride pages of the Record‘s website.

It comes out on Wednesdays.
