Kent on Saturday

Kent on Saturday is a weekly paid-for and freesheet tabloid newspaper distributed across the county of Kent and the edges of south-eastern Greater London (on sale through newsagents, free by home delivery and to pick-up points at petrol stations and supermarkets).

It was launched in 2005 as the Kentish Saturday Observer but changed to its present name in April 2009. It’s published by KOS Media, and like all their other newspapers is produced from their offices in Ashford.

The three editions are:

  • West Kent: Sevenoaks, Tonbridge & Malling and the Weald
  • Mid and North Kent: Bromley, Bexley, Dartford, Gravesend, Medway, Maidstone, Swale
  • East Kent: Ashford, Canterbury, Isle of Thanet, Channel coast

Prior to October 2009 there were just two editions – West Kent and East Kent – but the Mid and North Kent edition took over the numbering of the old West Kent edition, and the new West Kent edition started from scratch. A separate newspaper for Royal Tunbridge Wells, Your Tunbridge Wells, was launched at the same time.

In June 2010 the Norwich-based Archant group acquired KOS Media outright, having had a minority shareholding since 2005.

All editions were also available as free e-editions online, but as of April 2014 only the East Kent edition remained. Apps for iPhone and iPad are also available.
