Alfreton Echo (defunct)

The Alfreton Echo (formerly the Alfreton & Ripley Echo) was a weekly freesheet newspaper distributed to homes in and around the town of Alfreton in the mid-Derbyshire Borough of Amber Valley.

It was launched in 1985. It was published by Wilfred Edmunds (Derbyshire Times) Ltd, part of the Johnston Press group, as a companion to their paid weekly tabloid the Derbyshire Times. Its offices were in Alfreton High Street.

It had no website of its own; the link below is to the Times‘s website.

It appears to have been dropped by 2011, leaving the Alfreton Chad (published by another Johnston subsidiary, North Notts Newspapers) as the town’s only newspaper.
