Black Country Bugle
The Black Country Bugle is a weekly tabloid newspaper which is sold far more widely across the West Midlands region than its title implies, in an area covering southern and central Staffordshire (Stafford, Rugeley, Lichfield, Cannock, Codsall), south-eastern Shropshire (Bridgnorth, Albrighton) and northern Worcestershire (Kidderminster, Bromsgrove, Redditch), and Wolverhampton and Birmingham as well as its Black Country heartland (Dudley, Cradley Heath, Walsall, Stourbridge, Halesowen).
It was founded in 1972. The word “newspaper” is a little bit of a misnomer, as the focus of the paper is very much on history, heritage and nostalgia!
It’s published by Staffordshire Newspapers, which is now part of the Iliffe News & Media group (which itself became part of the new Local World group at the end of 2012). The editorial offices are in Cradley Heath, in the Metropolitan Borough of Dudley.
It comes out on Thursdays. A free e-edition’s also available via the website.
