Hitchin Advertiser
The Hitchin Advertiser – in full, the Hitchin, Letchworth and Baldock Advertiser – is a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper delivered to homes in and around the towns of Hitchin, Letchworth Garden City and Baldock and villages in northern Hertfordshire.
It’s published by Herts & Essex Newspapers, part of the Iliffe News & Media group, which itself became part of the Local World group at the end of 2012.
It was founded in 1997 as the first edition of an Advertiser group that also includes editions for Biggleswade and Stevenage. At one stage it was owned by Observer Standard Newspapers (now Bullivant Media) and was one of very few titles of theirs outside the West Midlands region. Iliffe took the group on in November 2006.
The editorial offices are in Milton near Cambridge, although there’s a local office for the group in Hitchin. All three Advertiser editions share a common website.
It comes out on Wednesdays. An e-edition’s also available free via the website.
