Eckington Leader

The Eckington Leader is a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper delivered to homes in the town of Eckington and other towns on the Derbyshire/South Yorkshire county boundary, including the towns of Renishaw and Killamarsh (in the district of North East Derbyshire) and Mosborough and Beighton (now in the City of Sheffield; both were part of Derbyshire until 1967).

It was launched in December 1974 as the Mosborough Leader but given its present title the following September.

It’s published by Wilfred Edmunds Ltd (part of the Johnston Press group of regional newspaper publishers), who also publish a paid weekly tabloid for the area, the Derbyshire Times. The editorial offices are in Chesterfield; an office in Eckington itself closed at the end of May 2011.

It has no website of its own; the link below is to the Derbyshire Times‘s website.

It comes out on Fridays.
