Haringey Independent

The Haringey Independent is a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper for the London Borough of Haringey, including the North London suburbs of Wood Green, Crouch End, Tottenham and Muswell Hill.

It was founded in 1982. It’s had two periods in which it’s been split into two separate titles for Muswell Hill and Crouch End on the one hand, and Tottenham and Wood Green on the other: the first was from 1996 to 1999, the second from 2005 to 2007. On both occasions the Tottenham version was called the Tottenham & Wood Green Independent; the earlier Muswell Hill version was the Crouch End, Hornsey, Muswell Hill Independent, while the second was the Muswell Hill & Crouch End Times.

It’s published by Newsquest (London). The editorial offices used to be shared with the Hendon & Finchley Times in Hendon, but have now been centralised at Newsquest (London)’s Watford headquarters.

Since early 2011 about a third of the distribution has been through pickup points at supermarkets.

It comes out on Fridays. A free e-edition’s also available on the website.
