The Citizen
The Citizen is a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper delivered to homes across East Lancashire, covering the unitary authority of Blackburn with Darwen and the Boroughs of Burnley, Hyndburn and Pendle.
It’s published by Newsquest (North West). It’s a companion to their paid-for evening title for East Lancashire, the Lancashire Telegraph. The editorial offices are collocated with the Telegraph‘s in Blackburn.
It was launched in April 2013 and replaced two earlier freesheets: the Blackburn Citizen, founded in 1978, and the Burnley & Pendle Citizen, itself the result of the 2001 merger of two earlier titles.
It comes out on Wednesdays. An e-edition’s available free on the website.
