Oldham Advertiser

The Oldham Advertiser is a weekly freesheet newspaper delivered to homes and available by free pickup in the town and Metropolitan Borough of Oldham in Greater Manchester (formerly Lancashire), including the towns of Failsworth, Chadderton, Royton and Shaw.

It was founded in 1982. It’s published by Greater Manchester Weekly Newspapers, a branch of MEN Media Ltd. MEN Media is itself part of Trinity Mirror, who acquired it from the Guardian Media Group in March 2010. The editorial offices were in Oldham until May 2009, when MEN centralised their editorial operations; after the takeover by Trinity Mirror, the group’s editorial offices moved again, to Chadderton – on Oldham‘s outskirts.

In January 2013 a reorganisation of MEN Media’s websites saw the Advertiser lose its sub-site in favour of coverage through the Manchester Evening News‘s Oldham pages.

The paper underwent a radical redesign in mid-May 2013, with a poster-style front page and a summary of the week’s major stories on Page 3.

It comes out on Thursdays.
