Southport Champion
The Southport Champion is a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper distributed free to homes in and around the seaside town of Southport in Merseyside, and neighbouring parts of south-west Lancashire.
It was founded in 1994 and is published by Waypride Ltd, trading as the Champion Media Group. It’s the largest and oldest of a series of Champion newspapers distributed in the area; the other editions cover Aintree & Maghull, Anfield & Walton, Bootle, Crosby & Litherland, Formby, Ormskirk & West Lancashire and Skelmersdale. All share a single website (which received a facelift in 2011), and an editorial office in Southport.
It comes out on Wednesdays. An e-edition’s also available free on the website.
