Basingstoke Extra

The Basingstoke Extra is a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper delivered to households in the town of Basingstoke in north-eastern Hampshire.

It was founded in 1980 under the title Gazette Extra, as a companion to the weekly paid-for tabloid the Basingstoke Gazette. It was renamed the Basingstoke Gazette Extra in 1981. Three name changes in successive years from 1999 saw it become first The Extra: For Basingstoke and North Hampshire and then The Gazette Extra: For Basingstoke and North Hampshire, before settling on its present title in 2001.

It’s published by Newsquest (Southern). It shares the Gazette‘s website and editorial offices (in Basingstoke).

It comes out on Wednesdays.
