Dartford & Swanley News Shopper

The Dartford & Swanley News Shopper is a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper delivered to homes in the Borough of Dartford in north-western Kent, including the towns of Dartford and Swanley as well as smaller nearby villages.

It’s published by Newsquest (London) and is one of a series of News Shopper titles for South East London and North Kent that began with the Bromley News Shopper in 1965. The series has changed hands several times over the years: Rupert Murdoch bought it from its five founders in 1969, then sold it to the Surrey Advertiser‘s owners six years later. Reed International held it for 12 years from 1984 to 1996 – during which time the Dartford & Swanley News Shopper was launched, in 1988 – before selling it to Newsquest.

All the News Shopper titles are produced from the same offices in Petts Wood in the London Borough of Bromley. They all share the same website, too, with sub-domains for the news in each main area.

Although most copies are delivered to homes, about five per cent of the print run is made available at pickup points at estate agents and public service buildings.

It comes out on Wednesdays. An e-edition’s also available via email by subscription; the residential requirement whereby only those living within the area received it free has now been lifted.
