Southampton News Extra
The Southampton News Extra is a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper for the City of Southampton in southern Hampshire.
It was launched in May 2012 by Newsquest (Southern). Along with the Eastleigh News Extra and the Winchester News Extra, it’s a companion to Newsquest’s paid-for tabloid the Southern Daily Echo; unlike them, however, it isn’t linked to the paid-for weekly Hampshire Chronicle.
Its editorial offices are collocated with the Echo in the Southampton suburb of Redbridge.
Although most of the circulation is direct to homes, copies are also available by pickup.
It comes out on Thursdays. An e-edition’s also available free on the Echo‘s website.
