All about the United Kingdom’s national, regional and local press

The Wokingham Times

The Wokingham Times is a weekly tabloid newspaper sold through newsagents and delivered free to homes in central Berkshire in and around the town of Wokingham, including the nearby town of Crowthorne.

It was founded in 1903 and has since incorporated a smaller title, the Woodley and Twyford News. It’s published by Surrey & Berkshire Media, part of the Guardian Media Group until they sold it to Trinity Mirror in February 2010. The editorial offices are at S&B Media’s headquarters in Reading.

Before becoming a part-freesheet, it had a weekly freesheet tabloid companion, the Bracknell Forest & Wokingham Standard, but that newspaper’s Wokingham edition has now been dropped. Likewise, a very small sub-edition of the Times (just a few hundred copies of each issue) for Crowthorne ceased publication in early September 2012.

It switched from broadsheet to tabloid format in March 2012.

It used to have its own website at getwokingham.co.uk, but that’s now been supplanted by local Wokingham news pages on Trinity Mirror’s getreading.co.uk website, in line with Trinity Mirror’s practice elsewhere of subordinating its local weekly newspaper websites to its large regional daily’s site.

It comes out on Wednesdays.
