Crewkerne Weekender

The Crewkerne Weekender is a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper distributed via pickup points in the town of Crewkerne in the District of South Somerset and nearby villages.

Its precursor was the Monthly Journal series founded by Lyme Media & Events in February 2010 and covering Chard and Ilminster. The success of that publication led Lyme to launch the Weekender after just seven issues, which they did in October 2010, and to extend their coverage area to Crewkerne at the same time.

In April 2012 Tindle Newspapers, publishers of the Pulman’s View From… series of freesheets for East Devon, took over Lyme and set up a new subsidiary company – Devon, Dorset and Somerset Series of Newspapers Ltd – to publish Lyme’s titles as well as the Pulman’s papers. All the Devon, Dorset and Somerset Series titles share a common website; the Dorset and Somerset titles share editorial offices in Lyme Regis.

It comes out on Fridays. An e-edition’s available free from the website.
