View from Dorchester

The View from Dorchester is a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper distributed via pickup points including supermarkets, garages, corner shops, pubs and community centres around Dorset’s historic county town, in the centre of the county.

It was founded in 2006 as one in a series of View from… community papers for western Dorset and southern Somerset that were published by View from Publishing Ltd (a subsidiary of Lyme Media & Events) up until April 2012, when they were taken over by Sir Ray Tindle’s family-owned independent newspaper company, Tindle Newspapers. They’re now published by Devon, Dorset and Somerset Series of Newspapers Ltd, a new subsidiary of Tindle Newspapers. Their founder, Philip Evans, became managing director of the new company, which has also taken over publication of Tindle’s existing Pulman’s View from… series based in Axminster.

The editorial offices are in Lyme Regis.

It comes out on Thursdays. An e-edition’s also available on the website, along with archives stretching back to October 2009; and a free iPad/iPhone app is also available.
