Great Barr Observer
It’s published by Central Independent Newspapers, which despite the name is a branch of Northcliffe Media, formerly the Daily Mail & General Trust‘s regional newspaper publishing division but now the major constituent of the Local World group. It was launched in 1990 as a local sub-edition of the Sutton Coldfield Observer, which was founded in 1985. The editorial offices are at Central Independent Newspapers’ headquarters in Tamworth.
Its web presence is through its parent newspaper’s website. From 2011 this was Northcliffe’s website for Sutton Coldfield, suttoncoldfield-people.co.uk, a portal website which replaced the earlier website for the Observer, thisissuttoncoldfield.co.uk. However, Local World decided early on that all former Northcliffe titles should have their own “publisher-branded” websites.
It comes out on Fridays.
