Redditch & Alcester Standard

The Redditch & Alcester Standard is a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper for the town and Borough of Redditch in north-eastern Worcestershire, covering the towns of Alvechurch, Studley and Inkberrow, as well as Alcester and Bidford-on-Avon across the Warwickshire county boundary.

It was founded in 1996. It’s published by Bullivant Media, successor to the original Observer Standard Newspapers founded in 1989 by Chris and Pat Bullivant. OSN went into administration in March 2009, but the Bullivants were able to rescue most of their titles from closing.

Until recently it was two separate titles, with Alcester and Bidford-on-Avon covered by a sub-edition, the Alcester Standard. But that was absorbed into the parent newspaper in 2010.

It comes out on Fridays. An e-edition’s also available free on the website.
