Goole Times

The Goole Times is a weekly tabloid newspaper sold in the town of Goole as well as in neighbouring parts of the East Riding of Yorkshire (including the towns of Howden, Holme-on-Spalding-Moor and North and South Cave) and Thorne and Stainforth in the Metropolitan Borough of Doncaster in South Yorkshire.

It was founded in 1853 as a monthly newspaper, The Goole Times. By 1869 it had become a weekly, the Goole and Marshland Weekly Times, etc.. 10 years later it became The Goole Weekly Times; it reverted to the original title in 1893. In 1987 it amalgamated with the Goole & Howden Chronicle (founded in 1983), initially as the Goole Times & Chronicle and then later that year as the Times & Chronicle. It adopted its present title in 1997.

It’s published by Chronicle Publications, an independent publisher. There’s a sister publication for Selby, the Selby Times & Post.

It comes out on Thursdays.
