All about the United Kingdom’s national, regional and local press

Hull & East Riding Monthly

The Hull & East Riding Monthly is a freesheet tabloid newspaper distributed to homes in the City of Kingston-upon-Hull and the towns and villages of Haltemprice immediately to its west, including the towns of Hessle, Cottingham and Brough and the smaller towns of Kirk Ella and Anlaby.

It’s published by Mail News & Media, publishers of the Hull Daily Mail. Mail News & Media are part of Northcliffe Media, which was previously the Daily Mail & General Trust‘s regional and local newspaper publishing division but has been part of the new Local World group since the end of 2012.

It was launched in September 2013 after the Hull & East Riding Advertiser switched from weekly publication. The Advertiser was itself founded in February 2012 as the merger of the Hull Advertiser and the East Riding Advertiser and was almost the last vestige of a whole group of Advertiser freesheets, which started in the late 1970s and at one time ran to five editions (West Hull, East Hull, Beverley, Holderness, East Riding), the other survivor being the Beverley Advertiser.

It has no website or editorial offices of its own; both are shared with the Mail. (The editorial offices are in Hull.)
