Bearsden and Milngavie Extra (defunct)

The Bearsden and Milngavie Extra was a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper distributed to homes in the towns of Bearsden and Milngavie in East Dunbartonshire, on the northern outskirts of Greater Glasgow.

It was launched in 2003. Until 2007 it was published by the Norwich-based Archant media group’s regional branch Archant Central Scotland, but came under the ownership of Johnston Press‘s Johnston (Falkirk) division when Archant withdrew from Scotland in April of that year.

The editorial offices were in Pollokshields and were shared with the Glasgow South and Eastwood Extra and the Paisley & Renfrewshire Extra, although it was a companion to the Milngavie & Bearsden Herald. It had no website of its own; its web presence was through the Herald‘s site.

It came out on Thursdays.

It ceased publication in February 2011. Its sub-edition the West End Extra, which covered Glasgow’s West End, including Kelvinside, Partick and Hillhead, and which actually had a larger circulation, remained in print for a few months longer.
