Cumnock Chronicle

The Cumnock Chronicle is a weekly tabloid newspaper sold in the town of Cumnock and towns and villages in the Doon Valley and Upper Nithsdale in East Ayrshire, including New Cumnock, Muirkirk and Auchinleck.

It was founded in 1901 as The Cumnock Chronicle and District Advertiser. In 1974 it absorbed the Muirkirk Advertiser and Douglasdale Gazette (founded in 1924) and continued as the Cumnock Chronicle & Muirkirk Advertiser for the next five years before adopting its present shorter title.

It’s published by Ayrshire Weekly Press (part of the Romanes Media Group, formerly Clyde & Forth Press), who also publish the Ayr Advertiser, the Troon Times and the Ardrossan and Saltcoats Herald. The editorial offices are in Cumnock.

It comes out on Wednesdays.
