All about the United Kingdom’s national, regional and local press

The Galloway Gazette

The Galloway Gazette – in full, The Galloway Gazette & Stranraer News – is a weekly tabloid newspaper sold in two editions in the former Dumfries and Galloway region, primarily in Wigtownshire and Kirkcudbrightshire.

It was founded in 1870. It’s published by Galloway Gazette Ltd, which has been a division of nationwide publishers of regional and local newspapers Johnston Press since they acquired former owners Regional Independent Media in 2007. The editorial offices are in Newton Stewart.

The two editions are:

  • Machars and Stewartry – covering Newton Stewart itself as well as Wigtown, Whithorn, Kirkcudbright, Castle Douglas and Dalbeattie
  • Stranraer and the Rhins – for the West of the circulation area, including Cairnryan and Portpatrick as well as the Rhins peninsula

Both come out on Fridays.
