Wrexham Leader

The Wrexham Leader (also known as the “Big Leader” or the “free Leader”, to distinguish it from the Wrexham edition of the Leader) is a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper distributed to homes in the Wrexham (Wrecsam) area and for a radius of about eight miles around, including the towns of Rhosllanerchrugog, Penycae, Ruabon, Gresford and Llay.

It was founded in 1920. It’s published by NWN Media (formerly North Wales Newspapers), a Mold-based independent family-owned company over 200 years old, as a companion paper to the Leader‘s Wrexham edition. The editorial offices are in Wrexham.

It has no website of its own; although NWN own the domain wrexhamleader.co.uk, the Wrexham Leader shares the Leader‘s website.

It switched from broadsheet to tabloid format in a mid-January 2014 facelift. It had moved premises from King Street to the High Street at the beginning of the month.

It comes out on Fridays. An e-edition’s also available free via the website.
